Zinnias are my favourite flower and they are finally in bloom! They were the stars of my wedding flowers so they will always hold a special place in my heart. Unfortunately, that means summer, and the bulk of flower season, is over.
Until then, lets all make the best of it and whip up a few simple arrangements to bring the last of the outdoors in. Let’s start with the simplest: hosta leaves & zinnias. For this bouquet, I chose to cut one of every colour.
Or why not a simple arrangement in a creamer? Three zinnias, a sprig of greenery, a spring of small bunch flower, and you’re done!
Next I thought I’d try an unusual item in my bouquet. . . dill seed. There’s tons of it in the garden right now and it makes a beautiful contrast with the zinnias. Don’t shy away from using stems with berries or seeds on them either! My dad even put pepper plants in my wedding bouquet, and they looked gorgeous.
Here’s how it looks from farther away. . .
Finally, if you’re up for a bigger challenge, check out this stunner with zinnias & lilies.
