Hey, I'm kristen

I’m a former farm girl turned urban gardener and I’ve been gardening since I could dig a hole and plant a seed.  But I’m just like you–I’ve got a busy life and am a Mom of littles and there never seems to be enough time or money to do everything I want to do in my garden.

I write about all things garden, flowers, vegetables, landscaping, and garden-fresh-prairie-style recipes from my home in Saskatoon, SK.  I help beginner gardeners learn about gardening in a fun and accessible way–no complicated terminology or super-technical explanations.  My mission is to get you gardening no matter how much space you have and give you the know-how to need to grow vegetables & beautiful flowers with ease and abundance, and save you money in the process.

I created this seed saving guide in such a way that you should be able to read it in an evening and have the confidence and know-how to go out into your garden and start seed saving the next day.

Yes!  Annual seeds are not dependant on growing zones, just the days to maturity.  Therefore, if you have enough growing days for the seed to grow, it will grow!

I’ve created the booklet in such a way that visual learners should easily be able to figure out how to seed save other flowers.  Most seeds come from either heads or pods, and the seeds I’ve shown are a good representation of what you might find in the garden.

I’ve included 18 common annuals, including sunflowers, strawflowers, snapdragons, marigolds, cosmos, and more!  I’ve even included dahlias and gladiolas, which don’t have seeds, but need to be treated like an annual and are very popular in cut flower gardens.
